Exercise Science Highlights

  • Parkinson's Disease: Engaging in regular physical activity has been shown to improve gait, balance, strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness in individuals with Parkinson's disease.

  • Post-Polio Syndrome: While specific studies on elderly individuals are limited, research indicates that physical activity benefits those with post-polio syndrome, enhancing their functional abilities.

  • Guillain-Barré Syndrome: Aerobic training programs have been associated with improved physical fitness, functional outcomes, and quality of life in patients recovering from Guillain-Barré syndrome.

  • Home-Based Exercise Programs: Home-based exercise interventions have demonstrated effectiveness in improving strength, balance, and reducing fall risk among older adults. Such programs offer a feasible alternative to traditional exercise settings, especially for those with mobility constraints.
